CBX achieved a record-high tonnage throughput in February

25 March 2020

CPSL’s Cross Border Express (CBX), the custom-bonded truck service extends airlines’ network to cargo catchment areas in the Mainland China with full visibility under GPS e-lock, achieves the highest record tonnage over the past 12 months despite global challenges. CBX handled a total of 796 shipments to Mainland China in February 2020, indicating year-over-year increase of 365%.

With the impact of epidemic and the resumption of Mainland China factories production, there was a surge in cargo volumes since early-February. Following the reduction of passenger flights which reduces the bellyhold cargo capacity, CBX becomes an optimal solution to help alleviate the surge in demand for freight to and from the Mainland China.

The peak of activity took place on Feb 28 when CBX handled 100 tonnes of cargo and about 80% shipments were surgical masks and personal health products.

CPSL Head of Business Development Alfred Sze said: “Our CBX service harbors flexibility in trucking schedules and types of cargoes to facilitate the movement of goods across the border. We are committed to provide efficient, reliable and cost-effective services to our customers and support their business growth in Mainland China.”

Currently, CBX provides daily scheduled services between Hong Kong and Dongguan, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Huangpu, Jiangmen, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Zhuhai, is your ultimate choice of intermodal service for a seamless connection between Hong Kong International Airport and major cities in Mainland China.
