06 January 2022

Cathay Pacific Services Limited (“CPSL”) received Silver in the “Safety Management System Award (Other Industries)” and Bronze in the “5S Good Housekeeping Best Practices Award (Other Industries)” at the 20th Hong Kong Occupational Safety & Health Awards.  The “Other Industries” category includes all industries outside of Construction.

This year’s Ceremony was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 20 December 2021.  Organised by the Occupational Safety & Health Council, the Awards aim to promote best practice sharing across industries and drive improvements in safety standards across Hong Kong by commending organisations who achieve outstanding Occupational Safety and Health performance.

CPSL was commended for its 5S programme and in particular its visual management which enhances safety performance, as well as initiatives such as Core Safety Week, the Safety Award Scheme, and Health and Wellness Week. These are all underpinned by CPSL’s “Five Safety Cultures” – ‘Organisational’, Informed’, ‘Learning’, ‘Reporting, and ‘Just’ cultures.

David Chung, Head of Safety and Security said, “At CPSL, we strive to go deeper than our policies and regular safety programmes to embed best practice thinking and behaviours throughout our organisation all year round, including with those suppliers who work with us at the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal.  This is what a great safety culture is all about”.

Mark Watts, Chief Operating Officer, said, “It is a testament to the efforts of the whole CPSL team to have been recognized so strongly in the very first year we have participated in safety awards outside of the airport community.  CPSL always puts safety first and is committed to continuous improvement in all aspects of occupational safety and health.”
