The birth of a new terminal

In January 2008, CPSL was officially formed and was awarded a 20-year franchise by the Airport Authority Hong Kong to design, build and operate a new air cargo terminal at the Hong Kong International Airport - Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal.

The new Terminal was topped-out on 17th November 2011.

Since then, a series of testing and commissioning exercises for the hardware facilities as well as operating software and platforms were conducted.

On 18th December 2012, CPSL Management Office moved into the office building of the Terminal.

Prudent phased-in approach of commencement

To ensure a smooth transition for the launch customers, CPCT adopted a staged approach to commence operations:

Stage 1 - Handling of Export Cargo

21 February 2013

Stage 2 - Handling of Transhipment and Import Cargo

19 August 2013

Stage 3 - Full Operation

3 October 2013

Operational trials were conducted before initiating each stage. With careful planning by the management, dedicated efforts by the team and unfailing support from stakeholders, Stage One operations commenced smoothly on 21st February 2013.

After nearly eight months of hard work, CPCT completed the transition and became fully operational on 3rd October 2013.
