CPSL and HAS Support the Romanian Government Charter Flight

17 April 2020

Cathay Pacific Services Limited (CPSL) together with Hong Kong Airport Services Limited (HAS) provide cargo operations, documentation and ramp services to a special charter flight arranged by the Government of Romania.

The charter flight was operated by Nordwind Airlines with Boeing 777-200 aircraft on 12 April 2020. In addition to the cargo compartments, the flight also carried cargo in passenger cabin to ensure it is bringing over as many surgical masks and antiseptic products as possible to Romania for their frontline heroes and citizens.

Over the course of three days, CPSL and HAS facilitated completion of all formalities and regulatory procedures with Civil Aviation Department and Airport Authority. The team also swiftly set up flexible plans to ensure adequate manpower and equipment for loading cargo in passenger cabin. Apart from uplifting the boxes of medical supplies manually, HAS deployed a Conveyor Belt Loader and borrowed an Aircraft Catering Tuck from CPCS ease the transportation of cargo to passenger cabin.

Mr. Alfred Sze, Head of Business Development, said “CPSL and HAS’s dedicated team of professionals have an extensive knowledge of providing reliable consistent services to our customers. We are honoured to earn the trust of the Government of Romania and provide support for the cargo charter flight. Although this is our first time to fill passenger seats with cargo, we exhibit innovation and flexibility to meet our customers’ needs. CPSL and HAS are continuing to work with the industry and airport community to overcome this challenging time.”
